The Disappearing Bushes Act

When we moved into our house a year ago, there were these bushes on the edge of our patio. They were ok looking, but were so brambly down by the roots that a family of rabbits decided to live and breed there and use them as nice little hideouts.

So we chopped those suckers down to the roots.....

Leaving us with some gigantic root balls.... (the one below was by far the worst of the two!)

and some lovely branches on the curb...

Tim actually got one set of roots out yesterday and is tackling the second root ball today -- yeah, the monster one. It was a fun little family project. Now... what to replace those bushes with?
